Coordinated sentence classes

According to the meaning of the conjunction, the coordinated sentences are classified into three types: copulative, disjunctive and adversative. Copulative and disjunctive admit the meeting in a single group of more than two sentences; adversative coordination, on the other hand, unites exclusively two sentences.

Copulative coordinates: the relationship of copulative coordination is equivalent to the addition or addition of meanings: the meaning of one sentence is added to that of the other or others: Work in the morning, and for the I do sports later. Other semantic relationships that can be perceived between the copulative sentences come exclusively from the lexical or referential notions of each one of them.

Disjunctive Coordinates: Disjunctive coordination presents the meanings of the sentences, or of some of their constituents, as alternatives: Come with me or go alone. The conjunction that connects (or or its cultured variant u) usually appears before the last of the group. As a stylistic device, repetition seems typical of literary or advertising texts. The disjunctive conjunction presents the sentences coordinated by it as contents that are excluded simultaneously or as alternative possibilities for the same reality.

Adversative Coordinates: Adversative coordination indicates a total or partial opposition between two propositions. The adversative sentence group unifies, through the conjunction but or others

equivalent two sentences that are thus explicitly opposed. The sense of the adversative sentence group with but is that the second sentence headed with the nexus introduces a restriction on the reference made by the first sentence (restrictive adversaries).

Explanatory coordinates. Despite not being related through conjunctive links, explanatory coordinates are called the sentences introduced by locutions such as this is, that is, that is, etc., that clarify or explain the meaning of the other element of the group: They live only in salt water, that is, in the sea.
